Seasons Of A Woman's Life: Abe Lincoln's stepmother

Abe Lincoln's stepmother

Hi there my friends

Every wise woman buildeth her house Proverbs 14:1 KJV

Sarah Johnston Lincoln 1788- 1869

Sarah was a widow with 3 small children when Tom Lincoln appeared at her cabin in Kentucky in 1819.  A year earlier, Tom had lost his wife, leaving him with 2 small children.  He asked Sarah to marry him, and she accepted.
What Sarah found out at the Lincoln cabin in Indiana, saddened her.  The floor was dirt.  The children barely had clothes on their backs.  Soon after Sarah's arrival, wooden planks covered the dirt floor, and the Lincol children had new clothes.
Sarah, was a kind, cheerful person, who knew how to manage children.  From her, young Abe learned about fairness as he saw Sarah treat the stepchildren and her own the same.
She sensed great potential in Abe, and although she could not read or write, she encouraged him to educate himself.  There were few books in the one room cabin, but they had a Bible, and he read it until he knew much of it by heart.  Years later, Abe's speeches and writings were enriched by quotations from the Bible.
Abraham Lincoln said of his stepmother, "God bless my mother; all that I am or ever hope to be I owe to her."
Good homes do not just happen: They are built.  Live by biblical principles and teach them to your children and they, like "honest Abe," will be a strong force for good in a fallen world.
Ladies do the best you can to build your home how our Lord desires you to.  Do not look at what others think is right only you and the Lord knows what is best for you.
I love you all, have a blessed day.

Seasons Of A Woman's Life: Motherhood Matthew 5:14-15

Motherhood Matthew 5:14-15

Ladies I do not know if any of you have heard of Mary Lee Bright but she was a wonderful example of motherhood.

Mary was the mother of 7 and she held out a light for her family in more than one way.  Her son, Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ International, said of her "The greatest influence in my life has been my mother's life and prayers.  She was the most godly person I have ever known."
I read about her a while back and here is a little example of what she was like:
Is that you Bill?  Mary called in the darkness.  yes mom it is I he answered in the distance Bill could see the faint light his mother carried.
When the Bright children stayed after school to participate in extracurricular activities, often it was evening when they arrived home.  Concerned for their well-being, their mother would meet them on the dark road and guide them safely home with her lantern.
The world is a dark place; there is a need for light.  you can be that light.  Reflect godly attributes and a prayerful attitude, and people will be drawn to Christ.  Even one faint glow in the blackness of night makes a difference.  Remember ladies we are a very important light to our children and grandchildren.  I have failed many times but keep on going.  Be a light to our children today.  Spend time with the Lord and them and enjoy.

I love you all

Seasons Of A Woman's Life: Senior Day LOL

Seasons Of A Woman's Life: Senior Day LOL: "Well ladies did I have fun today. I went to the store and as I was checking out the lady said oh I forgot it is senior day and she gave me ..."

Senior Day LOL

Well ladies did I have fun today.  I went to the store and as I was checking out the lady said oh I forgot it is senior day and she gave me a 5% discount.  Since I am 54 I had a wonderful laugh and thought wow there is blessings to gray hair.
Being at this season of my life I hear many woman say that is the only good thing about getting old but I think there are many blessings such as someone giving up their seat for you and insisting that you sit even if you do not want to,  people treat you kindly and the best so far is they think you are wiser due to the gray hair  just to name a few. So being a little older is a wonderful thing.

What are your thoughts?  I cannot wait to hear from you so I can enjoy your season.
Love to all

I say Year End You say PARTY

Just got back from a lovely year end part.  It was such a blessing to see all those wonderful mothers and children celebrate the year end.  These mothers homeschool their children and I know they must be super moms.   The children are all so wonderful, caring , respectful and soooooo smart.  I am honored to be a part of their homeschool co-op they help keep me young.
All of us older ladies should become some small part of a child's life we may bless them but they truly bless us in so many more ways.    They blessed me with a pair of beautiful earrings, 3 bite size milky way, and some stickers about the beach for my car.  Oh what a day to be surrounded by so many delightful people
I love you all

Expecting No belly to a nice size bump LOL

I was at work the other day and a beautiful young lady came in with a delightful baby and then she had a little bump and wouldn't you know she is expecting.  She looked so little with just that tiny bump so I decided to ask when are you do and she said any day  yes I laughed.    And this lovingly young lady said I hear you do not lose your weight as easily the second time around and I said what weight  are you kidding.

When I was expecting and my time was near  I was so huge that it took me over an hour and a half just to vacuum my small home..  Let's see vacuum for 5 mins rest for 10 and yes I was laughing even back then.
Forget about getting back in shape quickly so what do we think about you lovely ladies that are so blessed I love you anyway just alittle jealous.  ok ok a lot jealous
Have a blessed day and I love you all

What Season are you in?

Hi  All of you wonderful ladies

I have been wanting to do this for awhile.  There are so many different season to our lives  young, newlyweds , wife, expecting, young mother, mother of many , homemaker, starting menopause, at menopause, past menopause and just plain over the hill.
I am a mother of two, grandmother of six and a wife to Adam.  I have enjoyed being a young mother as well as a mother of adult children, and of course loving this grandma stage.  I have gone back to school and yes it seems harder the second time around for me but I am enjoying it very much.  I work at our local library a couple of days a week to reach out and enjoy my community.  I am a mommy of samson (my toy poodle and one of my joys of life), and my cat  (very big) named Smitty after my favorite summer clam bar.  I am in the menopause of life and loving every moment of it .  Each gray hair shows how much wisdom I am suppose to have oh my I better get that wisdom quick I have a lot of that color Ha Ha

No matter what season you are in let's enjoy it together

Expecting

Is this the first if so get all the naps you can it won't happen again lol.  I know it seems like it last forever but truly it does not.  Yes it is easy to say but I do remember.  When I was at the end of my pregnancy  I used to laugh because I was so big that to vacuum my small home seemed like it took forever.  Five minutes to vacuum and ten to rest and yes I said when are you coming.
Talk to your baby, sing to your little one, call them by name they know you.  I am a firm believer that the children trick us because while they are growing they are learning our weaknesses and then use it in their favor when they come out.  Those cute looks, cries, smiles and oh the excuses they come up with.  My daughter can still use them on me and she is getting old lol but boy do I love her and the season she is in.  Look at her humble pie blog and enjoy.
So if you are expecting remember this only happens once with this child and only once with how many the Lord blesses you with.  I love you all, please share your stories and any wisdom from the woman of other seasons.
Loving my menopause years
Alice Marie
